The SAGLA Scoopers K-2 Lacrosse Program welcomes girls from Kindergarten through 2nd grade! The Spring of 2016 was the inaugural season for the program with over 30 girls participating and growing to over 50 girls in the Spring of 2017! The program was a resounding success!

The Scoopers program is geared to help our youngest players learn the basics of girl's lacrosse while having a TON OF FUN! Players go over the fundamentals of the game and play FUN games to work on those skills!  The program's success and future will continue to depend on the support of parent volunteers.

The Scoopers program continues to evolve.  The Scoopers participated in their first local Play Day in June 2017 at Wissahickon! For the Spring 2018 season, the Scoopers will have two distinct groups:  K-1st Grade and 2nd Grade.  The Scoopers 2nd Grade will have have the opportunity to participate in a local Play Day.

The K-1 and 2nd Grade Scoopers will each meet one night a week from 6:00 - 7:00 pm) at an SASD field during the months of April and May. Players need a girl's lacrosse stick (cut down to the appropriate length), a mouth guard and goggles. We will be using only soft pink balls that SAGLA will provide. Used sticks and "beginner" sticks are fine and SAGLA can help you with sizing the stick. The practices will be focused on:

  • Rules of the Game
  • Athletic Movement
  • Cradling
  • Ground Balls
  • Throwing/Catching
  • Shooting
  • Defensive Concepts
  • And Lots of FUN games in between!!!

The head coach for the SAGLA Scoopers is Liz Wallace. Coach Liz Wallace has been involved in the sport of lacrosse for more than 20 years as a player, coach and official. After playing in high school and college at Millersville University, she began officiating and coaching the Pennridge Varsity team. She was the head coach at Pennridge for 8 years and is now a PIAA and NCAA official as well as a mom of two girls ages 4 and 6.

We are looking forward to introducing our K-2 girls to the wonderful game of Lacrosse!! We are excited about this program and hope you and your daughter find the SAGLA experience fun and rewarding!  And the beginning of your SAGLA adventure and journey!!
